Hossein Nejadi Koti
Ph.D Candidate

Hossein Nejadi Koti received the B.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz, Ahvaz, Iran, in 2012 and the M.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Tehran, Tehran, Iran, in 2016. In 2016, he joined Electric Machines and Drives Laboratory (EMDL), Marquette University, Milwaukee, WI, USA, as a Ph.D. student. His research interests include analysis, design and optimization of electric motors and generators, modeling of electromagnetic systems, and fault diagnoses in permanent magnet motors and generators.

Sina Vahid
Ph.D Candidate

Sina Vahid (S’17) received the B.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, Mashhad, Iran, in 2014, and the M.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology (Tehran Polytechnic), Tehran, Iran, in 2017. He started his Ph.D. at Marquette University, Milwaukee, WI in 2017. His research interests include power electronics, photovoltaic systems, and electrical machines.

Yue Sun
Ph.D Candidate

Yue Sun received his B.Sc. degree from Shandong University of Technology, China,  in 2010 and M.Sc. degree from Harbin Institute of Technology, China,  in 2013, respectively. Both are in electrical engineering. From 2013 to 2016, he worked in industry as a PM machine drive engineer. Since 2016, he has been working toward the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering at Marquette University, Milwaukee, WI, USA. His research interests are PM machine and drive system design and optimization, fault diagnostics in machine and drive system and fault tolerant machine drive system design.

Rasul Hemmati
Ph.D Candidate

Rasul Hemmati received the B.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from Urmia University, Urmia, Iran, in 2011 and the M.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from the Shiraz University of Technology, Shiraz, Iran, in 2014. Since 2017, he joined Sustainable Energy Lab, Marquette University as a Ph.D. student. His research interests include electrical machines design, numerical methods for electromagnetic fields, finite element analysis and optimization of electric motors.

 

Waqar A. Khan
Ph.D Candidate

Waqar A. Khan (S’18) received the B.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from University of Engineering and Technology, Taxila, Pakistan and an M.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from Aalto University, Finland in 2016. He started his Ph.D. at Marquette University, Milwaukee, WI in 2018. His research interests include wide band gap devices, design of power converters and control of electric machines and drives. 

Fahad Alshammari
Ph.D. Candidate

Fahad Alshammari has a B.S.(Hons.) in Electrical Engineering in 2013 from Multimedia University (MMU) in Kuala Lumbur, Malaysia. He received M.Sc. in electrical power engineering from University of Technology Malaysia (UTM), Johor, Malaysia, in 2015. Since 2017, he has started his Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering at Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Md Rakib Ur Rahman
Ph.D Student

Md Rakib Ur Rahman has done his B.Sc. in electrical & electronic engineering from the Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology (RUET) and M.Sc. in electrical engineering from the Lamar University, Texas in 2018. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D at Marquette University from spring, 2019. His research interest includes wide bandgap devices, power electronics converters, medium voltage DC system. 

Armin Ebrahimian
Ph.D Student

Armin Ebrahimian received the B.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, Mashhad, Iran, in 2014, and the M.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from Shahrood University of Technology, Shahrood, Iran, in 2017. From 2017 he worked for a research institute in which the main focus was on designing and manufacturing wind turbines for two years. He started his Ph.D. at Marquette University, Milwaukee, WI in 2019. His research interests include power electronics, Wide Band Gap Devices, wind turbines and energy storage.

Matthew Hughes
M.Sc. Student

Matthew Hughes received a B.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from the Milwaukee School of Engineering in Milwaukee Wisconsin, in 2018. He was previously a reactor operator on board the USS Theodore Roosevelt CVN-71 and now is pursuing his graduate degree at Marquette University. His research interests include large scale power conversion and saving the world.

Ali Alqarni
M.Sc. Student

Ali Hussain A Al-Qarni, received his B.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from King Khaled University, Abha, Saudi Arabia, in 2015. Since August 2017, he has been working toward the M.Sc. degree in electrical engineering at Marquette University, Milwaukee, WI, USA. His research interests include analysis, design, and optimization of PM machines, magnetic gears, and magnetically geared machines. He is looking for an opportunity to achieve his Ph.D at Marquette University.

Alaa Shanaa

Alaa Shanaa (S'18) received her B.Sc. degree in Biomedical Engineering, with a concentration is electrical, from Marquette University in 2018. She is currently pursuing her M.Sc. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, with a concentration in Power Electronics. Her research interests include design and control of power converters. 

Daniel Pederson

Daniel Pederson is currently pursuing a B.Sc. degree in Biomedical Engineering with an emphasis in electrial engineering from Marquette University. A member of Marquette's Varsity Cross Country and Track teams, he is most passionate about electrical engineering solutions in sports performance and rehabilitation.

Timothy is currently pursuing a Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering at Marquette University with a minor in Military Science and Leadership through Army ROTC. Timothy is passionate about power electronics and electromagnetic fields. In the future, Timothy hopes to pursue a Master Degree in Power Electronics.

Seamus Herson is an undergraduate student originally from Saint Paul, Minnesota studying bioelectrical engineering at Marquette University.  He is especially interested in using design and engineering to make people’s interaction with technology more seamless and intuitive.  He hopes to one day start a company that creates electric motorcycles or last mile transportation solutions.
